Project Goal: We are tasked with designing the top handle part and bottom case for the Primos Rack-N-Roll, a deer hunting rattling device that excels in replicating the sounds of mature bucks fighting. The core sound production components of the device, including tuned nodes, have already been designed for optimal sound replication. Our focus is on enhancing the device's usability, durability, and aesthetics.

3D Printing

We opted to 3D print the entire assembly during our prototyping phase, recognizing that the surface finish might not match that of molded plastic parts. The 3D-printed model primarily served visual purposes, allowing us to assess design and aesthetics. This iterative approach, combining 3D printing for rapid development and later transitioning to molded parts for a smoother finish, proved to be an effective strategy in the development of the Rack-N-Roll.

The components of the Rack-N-Roll are produced using injection molding, a manufacturing process where liquid plastic is injected into a mold to shape the plastic parts. In this process, ejector pins are employed to assist in the removal of the molded part from the mold, ensuring a smooth and efficient production cycle.

Pre Manufacturing

This process applies not only to the Rack-N-Roll but to all our product development. After finalizing our design, we sent it to the factory for a thorough check. This step is crucial and part of our standard practice. The factory review resulted in a report with red-highlighted areas, showing spots where the mold might encounter problems during production. We took this feedback seriously, making necessary design adjustments to ensure a smoother manufacturing process. This back-and-forth might have occurred several times, highlighting our commitment to delivering top-quality products.
